DURABLE

BIOCEV Laboratories of the Faculty of Science, Charles University, participate in the consortium DURABLE that includes 19 partners and two affiliated entities from 15 European countries, coordinated by the Institut Pasteur, France. The consortium is built to reflect the needs for pandemic preparedness and responses, knowledge provided through laboratory research.

Mission

Outbreaks of infectious diseases are increasing due to disruptions in the human-animal-environment ecosystem, requiring unified and effective emergency responses. DURABLE is a network of leading European research and public health centers providing rapid, high-quality scientific support to aid HERA in managing cross-border health threats. It coordinates global collaboration across pathogen detection, threat analysis, and information sharing using a One Health approach.

The consortium leverages its expertise to develop rapid countermeasure deployment, test network robustness, and enhance emergency preparedness through training and capacity building. Ultimately, DURABLE will serve as a comprehensive resource for diagnostics, research, and response to health threats, benefiting EU citizens and beyond.

The activities of Charles University laboratories under BIOCEV are coordinated by Doc. Ruth Tachezy, Ph.D., and include specialized laboratories in virology, blood succing insects, and protistology.
