Official statement of the BIOCEV and Santiago Chemikalie on the article at Novinky.cz (28. 8. 2020)
We would like to present the misleading title of the article from the Novinky.cz server, which was taken over by other media - Remdesivir will start production in the Czech Republic.
The license for the production and distribution of Remdesivir is owned only by the American pharmaceutical company Gilead, and at the moment we are not aware of any circumstances that would lead to the production of the drug in the Czech Republic. The product of Santiago chemikalie s.r.o., which is mentioned in the article and received by the BIOCEV center, is a set of synthetically prepared chemical compounds, including Remdesivir. The set contains pure active substances, which, however, are not final drugs by their nature and in the given form. The set serves only and exclusively as a source material for further research activities in the field of testing the effectiveness of potential drugs. The set is not intended for human use as a medicine.
