Charles University has 23 new professors, including Ruth Tachezy and Daniel Rösel

The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, presented appointment decrees to 23 newly appointed professors from Charles University at a ceremonial event held in the Great Hall of the Carolinum on December 16th 2025. Among them were also representatives Faculty of Science, Charles University in BIOCEV: Prof. RNDr. Ruth Tachezy, Ph.D. from the Department of Genetics and Microbiology and Prof. RNDr. Daniel Rösel, Ph.D. from the Department of Cell Biology. Congratulations!

Prof. RNDr. Ruth Tachezy, Ph.D.
Field: Microbiology, Virology and Parasitology

A virologist specializing in the molecular biology of human papillomaviruses (HPV) and related oncogenic processes. She works at the Department of Genetics and Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Charles University, where she leads a research laboratory and has long focused on the diagnostics, epidemiology, and prevention of HPV infections. She is a co-author of nearly one hundred articles in peer-reviewed journals, a recipient of numerous awards, and is actively involved in scientific boards, journal editorial teams, and public outreach in the field of cancer prevention.

Field: Experimental Animal Biology

He works at the Department of Cell Biology, Faculty of Science, Charles University. He is an expert in cell migration with a focus on integrin signaling and leads a laboratory dedicated to the study of cancer cell invasiveness. His research has contributed to a better understanding of the mechanisms of metastasis and to the development of a new class of therapeutics known as migrastatics, aimed at limiting cancer cell invasiveness and preventing the spread of metastases.
