Ing. Miroslava Anděrová, CSc.

Director, Institute of Experimental Medicine CAS

Neurophysiologist, graduate of the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, holder of the postdoctoral diploma in Microbiology.

During her long scientific career, she has gained rich international experience abroad. In 1991-1993 she worked at the University of California, followed by two years at the prestigious Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg (1993-1995). Since 2010, she has headed the Department of Cellular Neurophysiology at the Institute of Experimental Medicine CAS, where she has been the Director since 2016. In research, she focuses on studying morphological and electrophysiological properties of glial cells, especially astrocytes and polydendrocytes (also known as NG2 glial cells). In addition, she studies the role of the Wnt signalling pathway in neurogenesis and gliogenesis after ischemic brain injury.
