About us

Our research is focused on application of single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis on the questions of the structure-function relationship in biological macromolecules. In the recent twenty years our improved understaning of the key structural properties of proteins had enormous impact in the fields of cell and general biology, drug design or biotechnologies.

We are mainly interested in structure elucidation of new and novel enzymes, receptors, or complexes. Based on the atomic details of the structures we interpret the relationship between the structural details and function or stability of an enzyme, activity of protein complexes or interaction properties of receptor-ligand pairs. Our results include enzyme modifications (mutations) leading to their altered properties, suggestions for new ligands, potentially leading to new drugs, or entirely new knowledge on the level of structural molecular biology.
