Pavel Martásek received a commemorative medal of the Scientific Council of Charles University

Prof. MUDr. Pavel Martásek, DrSc. (1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University) was awarded the historical medal for merit for the development of Charles University and significant lifetime achievements in the field of biomedicine and many years of scientific and pedagogical activity at Charles University

Professor Pavel Martásek is Professor of the Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and Director of the Biotechnology and Biomedicine Centre of the Academy of Sciences and Charles University (BIOCEV).

He graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine of Charles University in Prague in 1978. In 1987 he defended his PhD thesis and received the degree of CSc. In 1991-1994 he studied at the Faculty of Science, University of Paris, in the field of protein biochemistry. Professor Martásek has many years of experience in research and its organization in major research centers in France, the United States and Japan. He is a member of a number of Czech and international scientific bodies and societies.

Professor Martásek is an internationally recognized expert in the field of research on gaseous molecules and their role in health and disease, as well as in the normal and aberrant synthesis and degradation of red blood cells. His in-depth knowledge of metabolic pathways, description of disease-related genes and study of normal and pathological proteins have led to collaborations and primary participation in projects at prestigious research institutions abroad.
