Job Position - Group Leader - Drug Discovery and Evaluation / New targets for development of antiparasitic drugs

Charles University, Faculty of Science - BIOCEV is seeking experienced group leader and Charles University/IOCB Prague Chair in Drug Discovery to develop and lead outstanding independent research unit for "Drug Discovery and Evaluation" with focus on assessment of potential new targets for development of antiparasitic drugs. The new group will operate in frame of Center for Research of Pathogenicity and Virulence of Parasites in BIOCEV, Biotechnology and Biomedicine Center of the Academy of Sciences and Charles University in Vestec and will be financially supported by the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS / IOCB Prague.

The role of Drug Discover and Evaluation Unit: The primary purpose of this is to develop a high-quality program of applied and translational research in the area of medical and veterinary parasitology; conduct research and publish research papers; secure financial support from external sources; develop and mentor staff and undertake supervision of research of PhD students. The unit will explore outcome from investigations of 15 research groups involved in "Center for Research of Pathogenicity and Virulence of Parasites" to provide drug discovery expertise in the Target Discovery phase and onwards which also includes preferred route of target modulation and validation, as well as identification of potential collaborators or commercial sources to discover early chemical starting points/clusters for selected targets.
