Prof. MUDr. Tomáš Stopka, Ph.D.

1st Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University
Head of Laboratory of Haematooncology and Stem Cells

Hematologist, graduate of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, PhD in genetics and molecular biology, professor of pathophysiology.

In the early years of his scientific activity he worked at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1996-1998 under the supervision of Prof. J.T. Prchal and then from 2001-2005 at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in the laboratory of Prof. A.I. Skoultchi.

His area of interest includes molecular and clinical hematology of myeloid malignancies. His research interests include tumor epigenetics, therapeutic resistance and hematopoietic cell differentiation. He also complements his scientific and pedagogical activities by his work as a consultant and editor.

Since 2016, he has been the head of the Institute of BIOCEV, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, where his research group is also based.
