BIOCEV has a very good potential for intensive international collaboration. Since December 2009 it is a member of pan-European network of research infrastructures INFRAFRONTIER and in 2010 it entered another consortium – Euro-BioImaging. Both infrastructures are part of the European Strategic Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI, http://cordis.europa.eu/esfri/), which represents a strategic tool for development of research integration in Europe and for intensification of its international collaboration. From the BIOCEV perspective the fact that co-ordinators of the national activities in these networks – Assoc. Prof. Sedláček and Prof. Hozák – also participate in preparation of BIOCEV is of crucial importance.
In addition, individual research groups collaborate with important partners in The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL Heidelberg http://www.embl.de/, EMBL Grenoble http://www.embl-grenoble.fr/), at the Max Planck Institutes in Germany (http://www.mpi-cbg.de), with the Pasteur Institute (http://www.pasteur.fr) and CNRS in France (http://www.cnrs.fr) and with many other international institutions. Finnish Biocenter Oulu (http://www.biocenter.oulu.fi) and Biocenter Kuopio (http://www.uku.fi) have also confirmed interest in collaboration with the future, along with the Institute of Experimental Genetics in Germany (part of HelmholtzZentrum München, http://www.helmholtz-muenchen.de/en/ieg/) and University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna (http://www.vu-wien.ac.at/en/).
Integration of BIOCEV into the European Research Area and high complementarity and synergy of all parts of the research concept of BIOCEV guarantee that BIOCEV will become an important scientific crossroads in the heart of Europe, with essential potential to change our knowledge and transfer it to practical life, and impact on principal areas of human life such as health or the environment.
