Charles University enters project BIOCEV through two of its faculties, Faculty of Science and 1st Faculty of Medicine. The main activity of both Faculty of Science and 1st Faculty of Medicine is education of Master and PhD students. As an integral part of the above-mentioned activities, both faculties conduct high-quality basic research in priority fields such as biomedicine, molecular biology, technology of novel materials, chemistry and other. This research also creates opportunities for development of applications in the area of molecular medicine, targeted drugs or compound analysis. Charles University is guarantor of the educational activities of BIOCEV. By medium of the Faculty of Science and 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University participates in the implementation of research programmes particularly within programmes Cell Biology and Virology and Development of Therapeutic and Diagnostic Strategies. Further, both these faculties take part in the implementation of programmes Functional Genomics and Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering.
